چکیده

In this study, microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) was isolated from walnut and apricot shells (WS AS) as agricultural wastes in order to use it reinforcement polymer composites. The extracted by alkaline treatment bleached peroxide an environmentally friendly treatment, called (WC) (AC). chemical composition of the samples set according Technical Association Pulp Paper Industry (TAPP). After treatments, alpha-cellulose content increased about 23 % for two used sources. structural morphological properties were investigated Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy attenuated total reflectance mode (ATR-FTIR), optical microscopy (OM), X-ray diffraction scanning electron (SEM). crystallinity index values evaluated WC AC via respectively 86.4 80.3 %. soluble fractions (ASW) (ASA) recovered characterized OM ATR-FTIR spectroscopy. Furthermore, their analyzed. characterization similar those commercial MCC prepared literature wood some wastes.

Characterization of Epoxy Composites Reinforced with Wax Encapsulated Microcrystalline Cellulose

The effect of paraffin wax encapsulated microcrystalline cellulose (EMC) particles on the mechanical and physical properties of EMC/epoxy composites were investigated. It was demonstrated that the compatibility between cellulose and epoxy resin could be maintained due to partial encapsulation resulting in an improvement in epoxy composite mechanical properties. This work was unique because it w...

Antibacterial Modification of Microcrystalline Cellulose by Grafting Copolymerization

Microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) has the advantage of a high specific surface area as compared to that of conventional cellulose fibers. In this study the monomer methacrylamide (MAM) was used to treat MCC by grafting copolymerization. SEM, FTIR, and solid C NMR were used to characterize the morphology and composition of MAM-g-MCC. After the chlorination of MAM-g-MCC with 10% sodium hypochlorit...

Enthalpy of Combustion of Microcrystalline Cellulose

A test substance with characteristics and properties similar to those of cellulose· based solid waste products is needed to calibrate calorimeters and combustors which will be routinely burning these materials to determine their calorific values precisely for use in commerce. Microcrystalline cellulose was found to be a good calibrant for this purpose. The enthalpy of combustion of microcrystal...
